Last year we used a traditional Advent Calendar; however, I am not sure that Callum really got the counting down concept. This year I decided to make him a paper chain that he could cut a ring off of each day to visually see the chain get smaller and Christmas closer. Also it allowed us to included the baby's arrival as well (the orange link) so he could count down to that as well. It seems to be working well (and it has stopped him to from asking if Christmas is tomorrow which is an added benefit).
