Building Walls, Not Bridges
Now I know that the phrase (if you have heard it before) goes building bridges, not walls; however, at our house this weekend we were most definitely building a wall. Now to be honest it was only a half wall and it has slats and is located on our stairs (alright it is a baby gate) but it is there and Finley can't decide how she feels about it. We have one large landing step at the bottom of our stairs and then the stairs turn 90 degrees and go straight up. Finley has been climbing the landing step for the last couple of weeks and has recently started to show interest in both Earnest food/water which was located on this step as well as the other steps so we decided a gate was a good option. Until this point she hasn't actually tried to climb the stairs but wouldn't you know as Brett was trying to install the gate (he had a lot of help) she took off up three steps and then proceeded to log roll down them in the most graceful fashion we had ever seen. I guess the gate didn't go up a moment too soon. She wasn't injured and really only fussed for about 30 seconds before giving us that look like "Let me at them again." Silly girl.
