Pacifier Sactions
So we have started enforcing the use of pacifiers only in the crib and the carseat. The carseat has been no problem and Callum seems to enjoy his carseat more and has even figured out how to his pacifier out of the door handle when he decides he wants it. HOWEVER, enforcing it in the crib is not going as well. We have put a box in his crib to hold the pacificers (which Callum sees as a great toy to play with during the dull moments) and we are encouraging him to put his pacificer in the box before we get him up. This morning he refused to do it until we took the pacifier and got him up and then he screamed until we broke down and gave it back. Then this afternoon when Brett went to get him up and offered him the box to put his pacifier in while Callum stood in his crib. Callum looked from Brett to the box and back several times before throwing himself down in the crib and fussing because he didn't want to give up the pacificer. Brett tried again and Callum took the box and threw and then looked at Brett like "hey get me up." Finally Brett took the pacificer and got him up and after about 10 seconds of hyperventilating he was fine. Lessons to be learned here: 1)Callum is very dramatic when he wants to be, 2) He is strong willed, and 3) This process may be harder then we expected.

At least you can get rid of the pacifier at some point. Jack has started sucking his thumb and I am not sure what to do about that! I am so glad you joined the blogging world :)
ReplyDeleteDon't give up. It will be hard, but he will get it. I miss him already!
