Changes Abound

As of yesterday 'Kermit' "turned" 17 weeks and so last week was our 16 week check-up and I was anxious for this check-up, since it was at our 14 week check-up earlier this year that we found out we had had a miscarriage. With this in mind I have been very cautious about making too many plans for 'Kermit" before we made it past this point, going so far as to tell Brett we couldn't even talk about names until after this visit. Well all that concern was for not, as in the words of my doc 'Kermit' is doing perfect with a strong heartbeat of 154 and everything. We have our 20 week u/s scheduled for Jan. 12th but we will most likely be saving the surprise of the baby's gender for June. We are very thankful and feel very blessed to have made it this far and have really started to look to the future now, including our new purchase:

That is right we traded in our 1998 Ford Escort with 143,000 miles (which only kind of fit one carseat) for this beauty. We had been looking at minivans and 3rd row crossovers/SUVs for about 3 weeks and after our visit Brett kicked it into high gear and we couldn't be happier with our purchase. (The funny thing is that it took us a year and half to buy a new mattress and 3 weeks to buy a new car, Brett says it is because we don't have to share the mattress with the kiddos). It is a 2010 Chevy Traverse with about 14K miles and we are very excited. Brett is going to drive the Rodeo which only has 70K miles despite being a 2001 for a little while longer (he basically drives to and from work) and then in a few years we will look at upgrading for his car as well.

As for the other changes, it is amazing how big Callum is getting. Regularly Brett or I will comment on this. He loves "helping" unload the dishwasher (mainly the silverware), regardless of whether it is clean or dirty so we have to keep an eye on him. With some parental assistance he is able to feed the cats and really seems to enjoy himself doing it. Also he able to "count" with you up to ten, meaning that as you count rather than saying the number you say he will say the next number in the sequence. It is adorable; however, it is frustrating when you are trying to get him to name the numbers in his puzzle because you hold up a four and say four, instead of saying four as well he will say five. He loves to read "Llama Llama read Pajama" and has come with his own name for it, something that sounds like "nama, nama, nama." There is more that he is doing but that is all I can think of right now.
