"Special Zoo"

Since Callum was born I have been itching to take him to the Denver Zoo and we finally got the opportunity to go this trip and we had a great time.  We started off by telling Callum we were going to a special zoo that mommy used to go to when she was little and he just kept repeating "we going special zoo" and he seemed to be very excited.  He was even more excited that the "new" Mrs. Lusher aka Aunt Missy was able to join us.

Checking out the Rams (both the CO state animal and
the CSU mascot which holds a special place in Brett's heart).

The peacocks at the Denver Zoo have wandered free since I was a child,
and while there were fewer this time they were still there and Callum found
them very intriguing.  Here he is saying "Hi Buddy" to the first one he saw and
then kind of chased, Oops.

Pushing his stroller, which was a favorite activity throughout the zoo.
Eventually we told him it was tired and folded it up so we could all keep walking.

One very nice thing about the Denver Zoo is that visitors can see the animals
at a very close distance.  Here is Callum checking out the Penguins.

Finley doing what she doing one of the things she does best.

We were able to see the Elephants get their feet cleaned and see them
practice some footwork for apples and watermelon which Callum thought was neat.

Callum's first ride on a Merry-Go-Round

He had a great time!  When it started up he nervously told Brett "This is fun!"
and after a few times around he was having so much fun that I could hear him
laughing from a short distance since I was feeding Finley while Brett and Melissa
took Callum on the ride.

giving her a kiss.

Callum was freaked initially out by the Larakeet exhibit that had birds freely
flying around but he calmed down by the end of our visit.

What do Gorillas do?

Callum was VERY EXCITED that there were reef
fish at the zoo.

Up close of Dori and Nemo

While there were a lot of animals to see at the zoo,
Finely was most excited about the birds.  We actually
had to throw popcorn on the ground to keep them around
otherwise they flew away and she fussed.

Serious bird-watching
